Sister Noshaba Khan (Founder, CEO, Director)
Sister Noshaba Khan is a student of the Quran and Islamic Sciences.
Her education include a double major in political science and history as well as graduate studies in public administration including advanced training in communications, project management, information technology, public finance, governance, leadership and human resource management. She is also fluent in English and Urdu and a little bit of french.
She currently works for the federal government in social security programs.
Of her achievements is her numerous volunteering in Islamic efforts as well as involvement in women’s activities, including providing resources, education, awareness, and references on women’s issues pertaining to feminism, health, equity and education.
Dedicated towards teaching traditional islamic sciences, and being a historian, with her love of exploring and analyzing primary documents, she thought up of an initiative to spread the knowledge of Islam using original historical texts and through the traditional methods practiced at the time of the pious predecessors, knowing that the way a science should be taught is the way it was originated by the originators.
Along side her husband Sheikh Uthman Khan and her Project Management and other managerial skills, she started this institute. Currently the founder, director and CEO of Jaamiah Jazriyyah, her plan is to grow the institute slowly to eventually incorporate all sciences of shariah in order to help one take his/her stepping stone into the journey towards understanding the Quran.
Sheikh Uthman Khan (Head Teacher, Academic Dean)
Sheikh Uthman completed his Alimiyyah Degree from Madrasa Taleemul Islam in the UK. He completed his Hifz at the age of 13 and has been leading Taraweeh since then. He has had the honor of leading in numerous Masaajid in North America and Europe, some of which include Wichita Kansas, Jacksonville Florida, Phoenix Arizona, Montreal Canada, and the UK.
He has also had the honour of leading Taraweeh and working with world renowned shuyookh such as Dr Iqbal Nadvi, Dr Zulfiqar Ali Shah, and Dr Talat Sultan.
In regards to Education, Sheikh Uthman specialized in Mustalahul Hadeeth and attained his Ijaazah in all the Sihah Sittah from Shuyookh in the UK including Sheikh Muslehuddin Brawdwi, who is the student of the student of Maulana Anwar Shah Kashmeeri, and Sheikh Moosa Badaat, Sheikh Yousuf Darwaan, Sheikh Abul Qaasim and others. He also took interest in Uloom Ul Quran and has written an explanation of Al Fawz Ul Kabeer by Shah WaliAllah which is yet to be published. This interest led him to studying the Qiraa-aat Ashara and he attained Ijaazah in both Ashara Kubraa and Sughraa from numerous world renowned shuyookh such as Sheikh Abdul Fattah Furaisi, Sheikh Khalid Barakaat, Sheikh Imtiyaaz Wali, and Sheikh Abdullah Siraaj. Of these Shuyookh, Sheikh Khalid and Sheikh Abdul Fattah have also taken Ijaazah from Sheikh Uthman.
Sheikh Uthman is also well known across the world to shuyookh of Tajweed and Qiraa-aat such as Sheikh Ayman Suwayd, Sheikh Ma’saraawi, and also Sheikhah Kareema Czerepinski who is the author of the famous book Tajweed rules of the Quran. Sheikh Uthman has worked a lot with youth and also counsels youth in their affairs. Of his achievements is being the founder of Shatibiyyah Institute of Tajweed and Qiraa-aat. He has graduated 30 Huffaz under him, the youngest of which was 9 years old when he finished his Hifz. Hundreds of students across North America know Sheikh Uthman’s very traditional and philosophical approach in teaching Islamic sciences which include hadeeth, tafseer, fiqh, tajweed qiraa-aat etc. This is usually apparent in his Halaqaat as well.
Sheikh Uthman has the honour of holding two of the most valuable things in Qiraa-aat. Being Connected to the shortest chain in the world in Qiraa-aat as well as the most high chain in Qiraa-aat in Egypt.
Other academic achievements include certificates in Adult Psychology, Accounting and Phonetics, Phonics and Phonology. All of these have helped him in enhancing his teaching style and creating an art out of the science and also dealing with students in a very different and unique way.
Muqri Ameer Yousseff (Teacher/Advisor Tajweed and Qiraa-aat)
Ameer Youssef was born and raised in Egypt. He started his pursuit of the recitation of the Qur’aan at an early age. He is one of the founders of the Shatibiyyah Institute and is the most advanced student of Shaykh Uthman. Ameer has Ijaazah in Asharah Sughrah from Sheikh Uthman Khan, Ijaazah in the Riwaayah of Hafs from Sheikh Abdullah Siraaj. He is currently working on getting Ijaazah in Ifraad in the Riwaayah of Shu’bah from Sheikh Abdullah Siraaj as well.
Ameer’s love and pasion for the Quran has no comparison and his calm and dedicated style of teaching echoes his dedication to this field. Students of Ameer would compare the styles of the two teachers of Shatibiyyah Institute (Sheikh Uthman and Ameer) and would say, “Sheikh Uthman khan teaches Tajweed like an art but Ameer teaches it like a science. If you want a full grasp of Tajweed as a whole, you have to study with both of them”
Ameer has obtained his Masters in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto. He lives with his wife and daughter in Mississauga, Ontario.
Muqri-ah Tazeen Shahid (Head Teacher, Jaamiah Jazriyyah-South Asian Subcontinent Branch)
Tazeen Shahid, one of Sheikh Uthman’s pioneer students, is currently teaching Tajweed and Tahfeez to children as well as women in numerous locations; the famous Al Huda Institute being one of them.
Tazeen Shahid has a double major in Chemistry and Biochemistry from The University of Toronto and then worked as an Analytical Chemist for seven years in the Biotech Industry of the Bay Area. Thereafter she moved back to Toronto and undertook studies in Quran and enrolled in the Taleem ul Quran course offered by Al Huda Institute.She Completed the Taleem ul Quran Course in 2009. She also completed several Hadith and Seerah course that were offered online.
In regards to Tajweed and Qiraa-aat, Tazeen Shahid was first introduced to Tajweed by Ustadha Mervat Kaas-Hout who had received her ijaazah from Sheikh Hasan Al-Kurdi in Damascus. Thereafter Tazeen Shahid studied Tuhfatul Atfal and The Muqaddimah of Ibnul Jazary directly from Sheikh Uthman Khan. Tazeen Shahid currently has Ijaazah in the Riwaayah of Hafs An Aasim from Sheikh Uthman Khan and is working towards completing here Ijaazah in Asharah Sughrah.
Ustaadh Usman Siddiqui (Teacher, TAJ00)
Usman Siddiqui was born in Detroit, Michigan, and grew up in Toronto, Canada. He is currently working on receiving Ijaazah in the Ten Qiraa’aat with Shaikh Uthman Khan, and an Ijaazah in Hafs with Shaykh ‘Alaa Elsayed. He is the Administrator and Public Relations Officer of the Canadian Dawah Association. He teaches Tajweed at ISNA Canada and also organized many youth programs and events there.
One of the biggest acheivements of Usman Siddiqui is his understanding of Makharij and Sifaat. Sheikh Uthman would always boast to his students regarding Usman Siddiqui’s understanding in Makharij and Sifaat and would ask Usman to take his place to teach Makharij and Sifaat which is a speciality of Sheikh Uthman’s.
Sheikh Uthman would always say, “who better to build foundation of the students who want to learn to recite than Usman”.
Usman is also very keen of martial arts. In the Classical Martial Arts, Usman is studying Goju Ryu Karate-do through the chain of Gogen Yamaguchi, Okinawan Kobudo, Aiki-Jujitsu from the Daito ryu system, and Iaido. On occasion, Usman works as a Software Developer and is studying Business at the University of Waterloo.
