Testimonials for the class:

  • Sister Yafa Aweinat (California, USA) ”For all Quran lovers: The ashara sughraa crash course is an amazing opportunity for anyone who has the basics of tajweed down, to take their knowledge of Quran to the next level. Whether you are simply intrigued by the different styles of recitation and want to learn where they came from and how to distinguish between them, or you want to take the first step in mastering the art of reading in these qiraa’aat, this course is a must take! It’s fun, and the pace is not too fast but still challenging. I would love to take this course over and over again!”
  • Brother Usman Siddiqui (Mississauga, Canada): ”The Ashara Sughraa course is one that every reciter of the Qur’aan should not hesitate in taking. We always have wanted to recite Maliki instead of Maaliki in Surah Faatihah. Now we can do that and much more. Alhamdulillah, after this course, I was able to recite in the Ten Qiraa’aat without too much difficulty. We do not go through the Matn, but go through the rules directly instead, just like in beginners Tajweed. If people are concerned with it being too overwhelming, they should know that there are only so many rules one can learn. After that, one needs only to recite. It has brought much awareness to the Qiraa’aat. Those who lead in their local Masaajid or are Imaams somewhere should have this course mandatory upon them so as to avoid the confusion of when a Qaari leads there. May Allah elevate the Qurraa to the highest places in Jannatul Firdaus.”
  • Sister Julie lowe (Toronto, Canada): ”A few benefits of the [ashara sughraa] course: You will finally understand not only the famous ‘maliki’ versus ‘maaliki’ difference, but the other ways in which the qira’at differ. You will gain the skills to allow you to read from a mushaf in Warsh or Qaloon… or any of the other ways of reading. You will be able to easily identify which recitation the imam is reading in. You will learn things about Hafs which you never knew! You will gain new appreciation of the Qur’an from seeing the nuances in style and meaning present in the 10 qiraa’aat.”
  • Sister Sarah Ahmed (New Mexico, USA) “Before the Asharah Sughraa crash course, I thought that studying the different recitations was a very difficult and complicated subject matter that would never be accessible to a simple person like myself.  Alhamdulilah the Shaykh made the course matter easy to understand and we really surprised ourselves with the amount of knowledge we gained. A bonus is that it was taught in perfect English!  The Shaykh is motivating and seems to care about each student walking away with full understanding.  Alhamdulilah this institute has opened up a whole new fountain of knowledge that I hope to benefit from.”
  • Sister Hend Bindari (Ottawa, Canada) “I was always intrigued when listening to the different Qira’at, but always thought it was an unreachable goal to even comprehend the different rules and reasons behind them. When I received an email about the Ashara Sughra Crash Course I quickly registered despite my fear it would be beyond my capabilities. Subhan Allah, I was able to recognize specific Qira’at and even narrow it down to the right Rawi. Something that would’ve have taken me years to understand was compiled in such a comprehensive and fascinating way. Simply take any class with Shaykh Uthman Khan and you will see for yourself what an amazing teacher he is masha Allah and a really down-to-earth individual. He’ll break it down for you in anyway you need to let it all sink in. Jazahullahu khair.”
